Meeting was held with an Irish expert at Intellectual Property Agency

On May 30, the Intellectual Property Agency held a meeting with Mr. Jim Ryan, short-term expert of the project "Strengthening Research, Inventions and Innovations in the Higher Education System of Azerbaijan", of which main beneficiary is Ministry of Education.

Aydin Huseynov, Head of Technology Transfer and Support to Commercialization Department of the Agency, spoke about the wide-ranging reforms in the field of intellectual property in our country, as well as cooperation of the Agency with various universities and research institutes of our country, knowledge and technology transfer channels among universities and production fields. He noted that technology transfer and commercialization centers and technologies and innovation support centers were launched in a number of higher education institutions and awareness-raising activities were carried out in this area.

Thanking for the reception, J. Ryan noted that this project was implemented by the Azerbaijan Education Institute with the financial support of the European Union and that the main objective of the project is to strengthen institutional capacity for the creation of competitive research mechanisms for supporting research, inventions and innovations in the higher education system. He said that within the framework of implementation of the project it is planned to implement various measures to create opportunities for research, inventions and innovation management in Azerbaijan's higher education system, strengthen capacity in research funding and formulate modern doctorate education programs. The guest provided information about the European Union's various technology transfer projects, including the “Horizon 2020” program for the development of scientific researches and technologies.

At the meeting, the opportunities for further cooperation between Agency and, "Research, Inventions and Innovation Strengthening in the Higher Education System of Azerbaijan" Project were discussed.
