Delegation of Intellectual Property Agency to hold meetings in Geneva
Delegation of Intellectual Property Agency attending at the 59th series of meetings of Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Agency (WIPO) in Geneva met the management of Department for Transition and Developed Countries of WIPO.
Speaking at the opening of the event, Chairman of Board of Intellectual Property Agency Kamran Imanov, head of the delegation, noted that the cooperation of our country with the WIPO was developing successfully and positively influenced the development of intellectual property in the economy of our country, especially in the process of attracting investments, as well as in international relations.
Referring to artificial intelligence in innovative development, influenced by the agenda of the modern time, the Head of the Agency emphasized the importance of practical application of this phenomenon in the field of intellectual property as a promising direction of cooperation with WIPO and suggested to organize joint event.
Mikhail Schwantner, Director of the WIPO Department for Transition and Developing Countries, noting that Azerbaijan has been actively involved in all discussions on the international intellectual property system, stressed that bilateral cooperation is on the rise.
At the same time Head of Section for Caucasian, Central Asian and Eastern European Countries of indicated Department Ilya Gribkov noted that close cooperation between WIPO and Azerbaijan has been established and the parties are working on several joint projects.
As an indication of this cooperation, Vagif Sadigov – Ambassador of Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland noted that WIPO Director General Francis Gurry made an official visit to Azerbaijan twice in recent years. “The special role of intellectual property in the context of large-scale socio-economic reforms in Azerbaijan has always been emphasized. The close cooperation between WIPO and our country contributes to the implementation of these reforms”, - he noted.
Practical issues concerning the prospects of development of bilateral relations was also discussed at the meeting.
