During the official visit of the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry to Azerbaijan in June this year, the presentation of the successful startup projects in Geneva was agreed. Later, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) also supported this initiative of Azerbaijan and declared intention to join the project.

For this purpose, a contest for the selection of startups will be organized by the Intellectual Property Agency, the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On October 9, the first round of the contest was held at the Intellectual Property Agency. The presentation of the projects submitted by the Azerbaijan State University of Construction and Civil Engineering, Sumgait State University, as well as projects registered at the Intellectual Property Agency was heard at contest. Representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Communication and High Technologies and the Ministry of Education also attended at the event. The next rounds of the competition will be held in the coming days.

It should be noted that the presentation of our country is scheduled to be held in Geneva on November 21, 2018.
