The 46th session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights of the World Intellectual Property Organization is being held in Geneva from 7 to 11 April 2025. As part of the session, an information session on "Copyright and Generative Artificial Intelligence" was organized on 10 April.

The event which was attended by representatives from the United States, Brazil, China, Georgia, India, Cameroon, Canada, Colombia, the Republic of Korea, Hungary, Japan, the European Commission, as well as Google, Shutterstock, Pleias, Deezer, featured an exchange of views on the current state of the impact of artificial intelligence development in various jurisdictions, legislative initiatives in this area, copyright on materials created using artificial intelligence, as well as copyright infringement and liability in the context of these materials.

Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Imanov who joined the session online on behalf of the countries of the Caucasus, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, made a report on "Artificial Intelligence and Copyright". The report reflected the development of artificial intelligence and the current legal issues created by it, the legal personality of artificial intelligence and the problems of its recognition, as well as prospective issues in this area. In his speech, K. Imanov noted the approval of the "Strategy for Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025-2028", and also provided information that it is planned to improve the regulatory framework, adopt a law on artificial intelligence, amend relevant laws and establish the Academy of Artificial Intelligence.

The report was listened to with interest and met with applause from the participants.
