On February 15-19, 2021, the next expert consultations were held within the framework of the twinning project “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Intellectual Property Agency to Manage and Protect Intellectual Property Rights in Digital Networks” (“SICCA”) of which beneficiary is Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and funded by the European Union (EU).

The event was held in the format of an online video conference and exchanged views on the 4th component of the project named "Trainings and public awareness".Mr. Dimiter Ganchev, Head of the indicated Component from EU side, Director of the Creative Industries Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization, gave detailed information on the materials prepared by EU experts to increase public awareness of copyright in digital networks in Azerbaijan.

Experts from Greece and France shared their views on the inclusion of basic knowledge in the field of copyright in print and audiovisual publications, especially for young people, as well as the experience of their countries in this field.

Najaf Guliyev, Project Leader from Azerbaijan side, Director of the Center for Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights under the Intellectual Property Agency, Elnur Mammadli, 4th component leader of the project, Deputy Head of the International Relations and Information Department of the Agency and others drew attention to the points that need to be clarified regarding information provided. They assessed the increase of awareness in terms of copyright enforcement in general as a very important factor in the formation of a culture of intellectual property.
