The Intellectual Property Agency supports the training of qualified staff
An event was held today at Baku State University (BSU). The event was organized on the occasion of the signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku State University on staff training and cooperation in the field of scientific research", as well as the "Agreement on the establishment of the Branch of Department of Intellectual Property Law of Baku State University under the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
BSU Rector Elchin Babayev welcomed the event. He noted that the initiative to create the "Intellectual Property Law" specialization in order to ensure the protection of intellectual property rights in our country and to train qualified personnel with practical knowledge and skills in this field was put forward by Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency, in 2019 and said that this specialization was included in the "Classification of specializations at the master's level of higher education" approved by the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers. He emphasized that there are currently 5 professors working at the "Intellectual Property Law" department, which was created for the first time in our country with the support of the Intellectual Property Agency, on December 16, 2019, and noted that the first graduation in the "Intellectual Property Law" specialization was held in the current academic year.
Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Intellectual Property Agency, who gave a wide-ranging speech at the event, emphasized that the Great Leader was the author of the strengthening of the term "intellectual property" in Azerbaijan and said that the Copyright Agency, the predecessor of the Intellectual Property Agency, was created by the National Leader. The Head of the Agency noted that President Ilham Aliyev is the cause of the development of intellectual property in our country, and noted that the Head of State created the Intellectual Property Agency, which is the successor of the Copyright Agency. He said that in establishing the Intellectual Property Agency in a format that meets the challenges of the time and forming its structure, the requirements are followed based on a model that meets modern challenges.
K.Imanov noted that in the academic year 2021-2022 there were 9 graduates of the "intellectual property rights" specialization at BSU, and 18 people are currently studying for this specialization, and said that the graduates will be provided with jobs at the Intellectual Property Agency.
Then, the signing ceremony of the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku State University on personnel training and cooperation in the field of scientific research" and the "Agreement on the establishment of the Department of Intellectual Property Law of the Baku State University under the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan" was held.
The Memorandum of Understanding and the Agreement were signed by Mr. Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Intellectual Property Agency, and Elchin Babayev, Rector of BSU.
Later, honorary degrees and gifts were presented to the first graduates of the "Intellectual Property Law" specialization.
