The victim of Armenian vandalism is Ganjasar Monastery
The main buildings of Ganjasar monastery located in Vangli village of Kalbajar region were built in the XIII century. The hill on the bank of the Khachinchay, where the monastery is located, was still considered a sacred place before Christianity. Ganjasar Monastery was the religious and cultural center of Caucasian Albania.
The monastery is surrounded by castle walls with two gates on the south and west sides. The north and south walls are connected by cells and rooms of ancillary buildings. The foundation of the church near the southern gate of the complex was laid between 1216-1238 by the Albanian prince Hasan Jalal.
In 2012, construction works carried out by Armenians in the courtyard of the monastery damaged the ancient appearance of the historical monument.
