The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) held a "Regional Meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organization" in Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of the pilot project aimed at expanding the capabilities of technoparks in the field of commercialization of intellectual activity results in EAPO Member States.

Mr. Faig Alizade, Deputy Director of the Center for Commercialization and Transfer of Technologies under the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mr. Isa Gasimov, Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering of Baku Engineering University, Head of the "New Idea" project operating in the University's Technopark, participated in the international event. The representative of the agency informed the participants of the conference about the reforms carried out in the field of innovation in Azerbaijan. He reported on the work carried out under the leadership of the Agency in the direction of expanding the infrastructure and capabilities of the newly created Technology Commercialization and Transfer Center, supporting the creation of technology parks and technology commercialization offices.

At the regional meeting, speeches were made by WIPO and EAPO experts on the improvement of the activity of technological parks. Representatives of technoparks operating in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan reported on the current state of technoparks in their countries, the work done in the direction of their development, and experience in the field of intellectual property policy in technoparks.
