During the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov to the Russian Federation on May 20, 2021, a “Memorandum of Understanding between the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Russian Federation)” was signed in Moscow.

The memorandum was signed by Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov.

It should be noted that as a result of constant state concern for the development of the intellectual property system in our country, an improved intellectual property system has been created and extensive international relations have been established. Within the framework of these relations, mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia is also carried out. The signed memorandum will give a new impetus to cooperation in the field of intellectual property between the Agency of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Service for Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation (Rospatent). In the near future, mutually beneficial relations will be further developed to ensure the effective protection of intellectual property rights, and the effective and adequate protection of intellectual property rights will be considered a necessary condition for the development of bilateral cooperation.

The purpose of the memorandum is to create more favorable conditions for long-term cooperation between our countries, to establish and maintain regular professional contacts in the field of intellectual property.

The Memorandum provides for consultations on issues of mutual interest, including holding consultations on participation in projects, programs and events, development and implementation of projects, programs and events and providing the necessary logistical and information support for their implementation, organizing the publication of joint scientific and methodological, analytical, expert, presentation materials in priority areas of scientific and practical activities, organization of events for the training of specialists in the field of intellectual property, prompt exchange of information in the field of joint interests, development of effective forms of communication aimed at creating a unified information environment in the field of scientific and practical activities, the preparation of proposals for improving the regulation of legal relations in the field of professional interests will be implemented.

At the same time, the Memorandum provides for the organization of national and international scientific and practical conferences, symposiums and the exchange of experience between specialists in the process of cooperation between the Intellectual Property Agency and Rospatent in order to increase the potential of specialists.
