On June 24-25, 2023, a delegation led by the Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Mr. Hasan Kleib will visit our country.

The purpose of the visit consists of familiarize with the work done in our country in the field of intellectual property on the eve of the Sixty-Fourth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO, which will be held in Geneva on July 6 to14 this year, in particular, Studying the experience of the Intellectual Property Agency which a single institution that combines both branches of intellectual property (copyright and industrial property rights) established within the framework of the institutional reforms successfully implemented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, registration of geographical indications belonging to Azerbaijan, as well as geographical indications belonging to our liberated territories and supporting their recognition on an international scale, it also discussions on further expansion of cooperation in other fields related to intellectual property.

During the visit, a “roundtable” will be held with the participation of WIPO delegation, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, The Ministry of Science and Education Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) and Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO), heads of universities, businessmen and lawyers.

At the event, Mr. Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency will make a presentation on “Development of Modern Intellectual Property Ecosystem: Evolution of National Intellectual Property Offices and Training of Specialists”. The WIPO delegation will present the “Geographical Indications” project with the participation of KOBİA, AZPROMO and businessmen and the project will be launched.

High-level meetings of the delegation are planned at the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Science and Education, and KOBIA.

The guests will visit the grave of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, in the Alley of Honor, get acquainted with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection's "DOST Center for Inclusive Development and Creativity" and "Icharisheher", and watch a performance at the "Baku Marionette Theater".

Let's remember that WIPO is a specialized agency of the United Nations in the field of intellectual property. This prestigious international organization, which unites 193 states, promotes creativity, unites the efforts of member states in the field of protection of all types of literary and artistic works and industrial property objects, and provides great support for the development of intellectual property.

The Republic of Azerbaijan has been a member of WIPO since 1995. Extensive cooperation is carried out between the Intellectual Property Agency and this international organization.
