INTERNATIONAL EVENT
As we informed, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized an event on the topic “Intellectual Property and Frontier Technologies”.
In addition to employees of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives from Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Turkey, Malaysia, Andorra, United States of America, Uruguay, Nigeria, Vietnam, France, Korea, Poland, Argentina and other WIPO member states attended in the event held in a hybrid format.
Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO welcomed the event. The international event, which started with the topic "Have you ever been in the Metaverse", introduced a dialogue about the role of intellectual property rights in the development of innovation and creativity.
Then there were discussions on the topics "From science fiction to reality", "All information looks like noise until you break the code" and "decoding the metauniverse".
Speakers at the first panel said that some see the metauniverse as the next stage of development. According to them, the metauniverse is the next stage of development, a transformative revolution in the way we interact and live our lives. Others see it as either an innovation over existing video game platforms or a non-existent reality. In the panel discussions, the speakers tried to separate fact from fiction. At this time, relevant technological components, hardware, platform, content and supporting elements, digital identifiers and NFT (non-fungible or unique token) is taken into account. Participants also discussed what it takes to look into the future and create a metauniverse, what its regulatory framework is, and what role intellectual property can play in this area.
The panel discussed the plans, drawings and intellectual property of the architects who created the metaverse, as well as the economics of the metaverse, life, work, play and intellectual property in the metaverse. At the end of the first day of the event, a discussion was held about the future of intellectual property in the digital economy and virtual reality.
On the second day, the topics of games and intellectual property indicators, jurisdiction and implementation of intellectual property rights in the metauniverse were discussed, and a video presentation on the realization of the potential of the metauniverse was shown.
At the end, open discussions were held with the participation of representatives from all countries.
