April 26 - International Intellectual Property Day, established in 2000 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The choice of this date is connected with the entry into force on April 26, 1970 of the "Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization".

International Intellectual Property Day was established out of respect for intellectual property and its creators. On the occasion of the International Intellectual Property Day, the main purpose of the various events held annually in most countries of the world is to highlight the role of intellectual property in the enrichment of cultural heritage, sustainable economic development and the formation of the information society, to demonstrate the role that intellectual property rights play in promoting innovation and creativity, to support and stimulate the activities of creative people, to show respect and honor to the creators of intellectual property.

International Intellectual Property Day has been celebrated in Azerbaijan since 2001, with relevant events organized annually. This year, International Intellectual Property Day is celebrated worldwide under the motto "Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals: Innovation and Creativity for a Common Future".
