On August 20, 2025, the first meeting of the heads of intellectual property departments of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Representatives of the OTS, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey attended the event.

In his opening remarks, Secretary General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev emphasized the historic significance of the meeting, underlining that intellectual property is a cornerstone for advancing innovation, science, technology, and industry across the Turkic World.

He recalled that throughout history the Turkic peoples have produced great minds and in today’s era, where intellect, knowledge and innovation determine prosperity and competitiveness, the Turkic World must not remain behind in this global race.

One of the main issues discussed during the meeting was the initiative to establish the Turkic States Intellectual Property Organization.

At the end of the event, the Joint Declaration of the First Meeting of the Heads of Intellectual Property Organizations was adopted. In the declaration, the parties confirmed their determination to strengthen cooperation in the field of protection and promotion of intellectual property.

It should be noted that the 2nd meeting of the IP Institutions will be held in Azerbaijan.
