The foundation of the international intellectual property system was laid 140 years ago
In 1883, March 20 Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property was signed in Paris. The Paris Convention is the first multilateral International Treaty determining the basic principles of protection of inventions, industrial designs, utility models, trademarks and other intellectual property objects.
At the moment 179 States are party to Paris Convention. The Republic of Azerbaijan joined this Convention in 1995.
The Paris Convention for the first time formed the basic concepts of the field of intellectual property, the principles of operation of national systems of legal protection of intellectual property and their interaction, the rights of authors, inventors and patent owners.
