On June 16, 2022, Mr. Kamran Imanov, Chairman of Board of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received Mr. Igor Yakovenko, General Director of AZEL Systems LLC and Mr. Gachay Mirzayev, Head of Microsoft Representation in Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the guests, K.Imanov touched upon the provisions of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “on Stimulation of inventive activity”, signed on June 15, 2022. He stressed the importance of the Decree, noting that this step was taken to stimulate inventive activity in the Republic of Azerbaijan and provide state support in this area.

It was also noted that one of the Agency's activities is to take measures against illegal use and piracy of intellectual property rights in order to ensure the principles of true competition in the use of intellectual property, to protect the interests of entrepreneurs in the intellectual property industry. It was noted that it is important to work in a coordinated manner with relevant agencies, including in the field of fight against the use of unlicensed software.

Igor Yakovenko joined the discussions and informed about the activities and working principles of his organization, the position of AZEL Systems LLC in the fight against software piracy in Azerbaijan.

Gachay Mirzayev highlighted the problems facing his organization in the fight against software piracy and made suggestions on how to solve them. At the same time, the importance of holding awareness-raising events together with relevant agencies, including the organization of the Intellectual Property Agency, was emphasized.

It was unanimously stated that it is important to hold such meetings and implement joint projects, with concrete proposals being discussed.

The meeting was attended by Member of the Board, Deputy Chairman of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Sanan Tapdigov, Director of the Center for Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights Mr. Najaf Guliyev and Deputy General Director of AZEL Systems LLC Mr. Teymur Khalafov.
