The 2022 year-end report of Patent and Trademark Examination Center under the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan was heard.

Mr. Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency, who opened the event with an introductory speech, noted that certain areas of the Agency's activity have been completely modernized. He touched on the role of the Agency in the realization of the national priorities "sustainably growing competitive economy" and "competitive human capital and modern innovation space" mentioned in "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development" approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 2, 2021. It was emphasized that 10 points in the Action Plan of the "Socio-economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022‒2026", approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 22, 2022, refer to the Intellectual Property Agency, and the Agency is the main executive in three of them.

K. Imanov said that the Intellectual Property Agency is not only an institution providing state services that conducts expertise, protects copyrights and issues protection documents in modern conditions, but has turned into a state structure that has a positive impact on the market, carries out the economic burden on itself, and investigates sociological intricacies in the field of intellectual property.

Member of Board of the Intellectual property Agency, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Patent and Trademark Examination Center Mr. Sanan Tapdınov said the quality of legal documents prepared for the registration of industrial property facilities has increased. It was noted that the increase in the number of incoming appeals is an indication of civil satisfaction, the bidders' confidence in the activities of the agency.

The meeting provided detailed information on the dynamics of applications for industrial property objects during 2022. It was reported that there was an increase in applications for national and international trademarks, geographical indications, inventions, utility models, and industrial designs last year. Additives Chemistry Scientific Research Institute and The Scientific Research Institute of Petrochemical Processes of the Ministry of Science and Education as well as the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, were the legal entities that applied the most for inventions.

At the end of the event, the questions of the participants were answered. The report of the center was positively evaluated.
