In 2022, 43 universities from the countries that are members of the Eurasian Patent Organization (APT) applied to this organization to obtain a Eurasian patent. Higher education institutions of Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Belarus are among the leaders of the list.

In 2022, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Belarus State University, Semey Medical University (Kazakhstan), Belarus State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Russian National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics were on the list of leaders sharing the 10th place, submitting three applications each to receive a Eurasian patent. The remaining places belong to Russian universities.

St. Petersburg State University of Pediatric Medicine and Innopolis University are among the leaders of the ranking, with more than 10 claims each. 25 universities from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia submitted two or more Eurasian applications. The only higher education institution from Kyrgyzstan included in the ranking in 2022 - Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University - submitted two applications

Higher education institutions file applications for inventions mostly in the following areas: "Medicine and veterinary medicine" (more than 23%), "Measurement and optics" (more than 19%), "Transportation" (more than 8%), "Electrical engineering" (7%), "Physical and chemical processes" and "Materials processing and layered materials" (each - 5%).
